Email still not dead…

Many people have said that email is dead or dying. I beg to differ. Recent reports coming out of MediaPost indicate that email is still alive and well, although taking different forms than it has in the past. Social networking and mobile phone usage have been two reincarnations of email and how the new consumer is engaging. Web-based TV is another emerging channel for email engagement. While younger adults/kids are all about the texting and SMS as a standalone communication vehicle (i.e. they don’t send as many direct emails to friends), they are still using email as an embedded component of other web-based applications like Facebook, daily-deal sites like Groupon, and others. Kroger’s new coupon system

Kroger announced on 3/29 that they have enhanced their POS system to ensure against allowing consumers to stack manufacturers coupons. This means that consumers who were able to redeem multiple coupons for a single product now will be limited to one coupon for each product they purchase. This seems very intuitive and many are confused that such a prominent grocery retailer hasn’t had this functionality previously. One can only scratch their head… anyway, better late than never.
